Human Personality & the Concept of "Sthree-nivasa"
The western psychologists like, Kreschmer, Sheldon,Sigmund Freud, Gordon Allport, Han Eyesenck, Carl Gustav Jung, Alfred Adler and others have interpreted the different dimensions underlying in personality in various types. Everyone of them have developed their own approach in explaining Human Personality. Some of them conducted scientific experiments and some of them have concluded their theories basing on certain empirical studies.
The Psycho-Analysts like Sigmund Freud, Jung, Adler have given much importance to the unconscious behaviours than that of the conscious one. The Typologists such as, Sheldon and Kreshmer, have emphasized on the shape and size of the body type and to the physical appearances of different people.
Unlike the above interpretations, Ancient Indian philosophers have evolved the concept of TRIGUNA. According to this theory, Human Personality is perfect combo of 3 important qualities, namely, SATTVA, RAJAS, TAMAS.
The concept of STHREENIVASA:
I observed the human personality and found in the light of the Triguna Concept, that, every human being- irrespective of age, gender, place of birth, caster, color, creed- is STHREE-NIVASA.
STHREE-NIVASA, is a Sanskrit derivative, composed with 2 words, namely, Sthree and Nivasa.
Here, the word, STHREE has a literal meaning of woman. but in my theory, the word STHREE has a wider meaning. I have taken the word as a complexive unity of 3 different syllables. They are, SA, THA, RA. These 3 syllables or sounds have merged together with perfect coordination and cohesion and ultimately formed into the word, STHREE.
Here, every sound represents one basic psychological quality of human-being.
SA-represents the SATTVA GUNA
THA-represents the THAMO GUNA
RA-represents the RAJO GUNA.
Every human beiing is embedded with these TRIGUNA. But the dagree may vary from person to person. There are intra-individual and inter-individual differences in respect of these TRIGUNA.
As such, human being is a TRIGUNA or STHREE.
And the word NIVASA, means abode or place of living.
Hence, every HUMAN BEING is a STHREENIVASA,where 3 Gunas live, love, exist, explore, exhibit together and whatever we are experiencing from different people is an outcome of the variations and fluctuations that are being taking place in the individuals, and so on..

Management Science exploring Indian Experiences
Management Science exploring Indian experiences
The human-kind has come across many explosions in the great exodus from ancient, medieval to the modern ages of civilization and culture, so far! Alvyn Toffler, a renowned futurologist has documented historical events of mankind in his books titled, First Wave, Second Wave, Third Wave and Future Shock! We, as the part of mankind, have already seen the population explosion, watched the consequences of Atomic explosion and we are enjoying the fruits of information explosion in every walk of our life, from communicatiosn to cosmos! As such, the need of the hour is the Management explosion!
Management studies- Then and now
Management as the most emerging and growing subject of study is in demand nowadays, is finally come to a full circle! Now, it is thinking beyond the theories, principles, research applications and case studies of western people like Henry Fayol, Elton Mayo, Chester Bernard, Fred Luthans, Stephen Robbins, Philip Kotler, Peter Drucker, etc.
The new Management is finally exploring the native roots in devising novel strategies, plans and studies. The prominent management institutes in India, including IIMs are very keen to find out as many cases as possible from Indian context. Accordingly, the creative heads of the Management Institutes are now in a searching spree to read the extraordinary vividity, divergent outlook, diversified lifestyles and significantly grandeur past of Indian Culture and Heritage and their applicability in Management studies. That includes, the different festivals, fairs, rituals, practices, traditions, customs, conventional art-forms of Incredibly Varied India! They are not even left the tribal lifestyles, folk-lorres and the mythologies too, for exploring new management principles with a view to apply them in corporate strategies and production plans.
New Economic Reforms and Management science
The Managemenmt science has become very open and on ever updating mode and closely observing each and everything happening in India with an outlook to interpret the events, incidents and practices within the framework and applied knowledge of Management. In other words, the Indian Management science is going unconventionally conventional unlike its counterparts in various parts of the world, where they are still reading the treatises and observations of very western experiences.
Until the fruits of second phase of New Economic Reforms are ripened after 2001, the Management studies in India also went on the very western modes and modules, where the native own experiences and researches were missed. After 2001, the Innovative India has emerged as strong as ever before and now proudly dare to incorporate the very Indian examples and practices in modern management studies. This new phenomenon can be made evident with the following instances:-
---Inclusion of movies like Lagaan, Chak De! India, Goal as case studies for understanding the corporate concepts of goal-setting, leadership,team-work, motivation, decision-making,conflict resolution, time-management, human-resource planning etc
---Union railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav’s magic in running the Indian Railways on the profit track of astoundingly Rs.20 thousand crores!
--Bollywood’s revamped marketing strategies after Hum Tum success experience
--Instructing Mumbai MBA graduates to participate in the recently concluded festival of Sri Krishna Janmashtami, in the event of hitting the hanging pot to get the practical awareness of leadership qualities, team-spirit, task-orientation,etc. It is believed that, construction of human pyramid with an aim to hit the hanging pot in the air with the students will enable them to get the real-life experience through the activity!
--AP state government’s decision to utilize the expertise, knowledge and skill of MBAs for assessment, analyses and verify the political prospects for the future by attaching the selected MBA graduate to the honourable MLAs providing each a remuneration of Rs. 25 thousands per month for project study.
--Mumbai dabbawala experience for Error-Nil strategy
--Bhagvat Gita as the new corporate hand book
--pancha tantra, Maha Bharata’s shanti parva, anushasan parva, kautilya’s Artha Shastra
These instances emphasise the fact that, Management is nowadays transforming itself from an active art to the systematic spiritual science deeply rooted in the very traditional, conservative and orthodox lifestyles of India!
It is paradoxical to note that, the quotes expressed by Gurajada AppaRao, father of cultural renaissance and modern Telugu poetry, through the mouth of one of the character he created in his famous play, Kanyashulkam as Anni Vedallone unnayisha (everything lies in vedas only) and every managerial aspect lies in Indian lifestyles only, has become the chanting mantra of the contemporary management studies now!
