Human Personality & the Concept of "Sthree-nivasa"
Human Personality & the Concept of "Sthree-nivasa"
The western psychologists like, Kreschmer, Sheldon,Sigmund Freud, Gordon Allport, Han Eyesenck, Carl Gustav Jung, Alfred Adler and others have interpreted the different dimensions underlying in personality in various types. Everyone of them have developed their own approach in explaining Human Personality. Some of them conducted scientific experiments and some of them have concluded their theories basing on certain empirical studies.
The Psycho-Analysts like Sigmund Freud, Jung, Adler have given much importance to the unconscious behaviours than that of the conscious one. The Typologists such as, Sheldon and Kreshmer, have emphasized on the shape and size of the body type and to the physical appearances of different people.
Unlike the above interpretations, Ancient Indian philosophers have evolved the concept of TRIGUNA. According to this theory, Human Personality is perfect combo of 3 important qualities, namely, SATTVA, RAJAS, TAMAS.
The concept of STHREENIVASA:
I observed the human personality and found in the light of the Triguna Concept, that, every human being- irrespective of age, gender, place of birth, caster, color, creed- is STHREE-NIVASA.
STHREE-NIVASA, is a Sanskrit derivative, composed with 2 words, namely, Sthree and Nivasa.
Here, the word, STHREE has a literal meaning of woman. but in my theory, the word STHREE has a wider meaning. I have taken the word as a complexive unity of 3 different syllables. They are, SA, THA, RA. These 3 syllables or sounds have merged together with perfect coordination and cohesion and ultimately formed into the word, STHREE.
Here, every sound represents one basic psychological quality of human-being.
SA-represents the SATTVA GUNA
THA-represents the THAMO GUNA
RA-represents the RAJO GUNA.
Every human beiing is embedded with these TRIGUNA. But the dagree may vary from person to person. There are intra-individual and inter-individual differences in respect of these TRIGUNA.
As such, human being is a TRIGUNA or STHREE.
And the word NIVASA, means abode or place of living.
Hence, every HUMAN BEING is a STHREENIVASA,where 3 Gunas live, love, exist, explore, exhibit together and whatever we are experiencing from different people is an outcome of the variations and fluctuations that are being taking place in the individuals, and so on..

Management Science exploring Indian Experiences
Management Science exploring Indian experiences
The human-kind has come across many explosions in the great exodus from ancient, medieval to the modern ages of civilization and culture, so far! Alvyn Toffler, a renowned futurologist has documented historical events of mankind in his books titled, First Wave, Second Wave, Third Wave and Future Shock! We, as the part of mankind, have already seen the population explosion, watched the consequences of Atomic explosion and we are enjoying the fruits of information explosion in every walk of our life, from communicatiosn to cosmos! As such, the need of the hour is the Management explosion!
Management studies- Then and now
Management as the most emerging and growing subject of study is in demand nowadays, is finally come to a full circle! Now, it is thinking beyond the theories, principles, research applications and case studies of western people like Henry Fayol, Elton Mayo, Chester Bernard, Fred Luthans, Stephen Robbins, Philip Kotler, Peter Drucker, etc.
The new Management is finally exploring the native roots in devising novel strategies, plans and studies. The prominent management institutes in India, including IIMs are very keen to find out as many cases as possible from Indian context. Accordingly, the creative heads of the Management Institutes are now in a searching spree to read the extraordinary vividity, divergent outlook, diversified lifestyles and significantly grandeur past of Indian Culture and Heritage and their applicability in Management studies. That includes, the different festivals, fairs, rituals, practices, traditions, customs, conventional art-forms of Incredibly Varied India! They are not even left the tribal lifestyles, folk-lorres and the mythologies too, for exploring new management principles with a view to apply them in corporate strategies and production plans.
New Economic Reforms and Management science
The Managemenmt science has become very open and on ever updating mode and closely observing each and everything happening in India with an outlook to interpret the events, incidents and practices within the framework and applied knowledge of Management. In other words, the Indian Management science is going unconventionally conventional unlike its counterparts in various parts of the world, where they are still reading the treatises and observations of very western experiences.
Until the fruits of second phase of New Economic Reforms are ripened after 2001, the Management studies in India also went on the very western modes and modules, where the native own experiences and researches were missed. After 2001, the Innovative India has emerged as strong as ever before and now proudly dare to incorporate the very Indian examples and practices in modern management studies. This new phenomenon can be made evident with the following instances:-
---Inclusion of movies like Lagaan, Chak De! India, Goal as case studies for understanding the corporate concepts of goal-setting, leadership,team-work, motivation, decision-making,conflict resolution, time-management, human-resource planning etc
---Union railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav’s magic in running the Indian Railways on the profit track of astoundingly Rs.20 thousand crores!
--Bollywood’s revamped marketing strategies after Hum Tum success experience
--Instructing Mumbai MBA graduates to participate in the recently concluded festival of Sri Krishna Janmashtami, in the event of hitting the hanging pot to get the practical awareness of leadership qualities, team-spirit, task-orientation,etc. It is believed that, construction of human pyramid with an aim to hit the hanging pot in the air with the students will enable them to get the real-life experience through the activity!
--AP state government’s decision to utilize the expertise, knowledge and skill of MBAs for assessment, analyses and verify the political prospects for the future by attaching the selected MBA graduate to the honourable MLAs providing each a remuneration of Rs. 25 thousands per month for project study.
--Mumbai dabbawala experience for Error-Nil strategy
--Bhagvat Gita as the new corporate hand book
--pancha tantra, Maha Bharata’s shanti parva, anushasan parva, kautilya’s Artha Shastra
These instances emphasise the fact that, Management is nowadays transforming itself from an active art to the systematic spiritual science deeply rooted in the very traditional, conservative and orthodox lifestyles of India!
It is paradoxical to note that, the quotes expressed by Gurajada AppaRao, father of cultural renaissance and modern Telugu poetry, through the mouth of one of the character he created in his famous play, Kanyashulkam as Anni Vedallone unnayisha (everything lies in vedas only) and every managerial aspect lies in Indian lifestyles only, has become the chanting mantra of the contemporary management studies now!

Chiru's Hesitation- A Psychological perspective
Chiru's Hesitation-A Psychological perspective
The fire that was set on, in the recent past in the state's political arena is still rising! All the political parties including Congress, TDP, TRS, CPI and CPM on the one hand and the people of AP on the other hand have shown a very keen interest on the debut of Chiranjeevi into the politics! Some of the leaders have got insecurity, some the chance, some the support , some the dislike and some of them absolutely welcome Chiru! But nobody knows what actually Chiru is planning to do.But the analysts have the opinion that, of all the other parties and the people, Chiru himself is reluctant to take a plunge into politics for the present.
The psychological angle:
Chiru with his commitment, conviction and competency has reached the zenith in Tollywood and has been enjoying the position of Numero Uno for the last decade and a half.It is the empire he built with time, toil and hard work. As the social-psychologists rightly put it as his Acquired status, where he is getting all the security, comfort and certainity at present. If he switch over to the politics at this stage it will become his Ascribed status, where he may not be in comfort with, due to the very fluctuating risks and challenges involved in politics!
The psychologists have made it clear that, it is common for anybody to get through a conflict when he decided or thinking of shifting from one situation where he is familiar with to a new situation which is not really known to him. In other words, it is the common human psyche to be and to be continue with the present known, accustomed and habituated status, which gives a sense of Comfort Zone to him.
Here he can dictate the terms and enjoys his rights. If he wants to shift his arena to the other one, definitely he will be having all doubts, suspicion and the outcome-phobia which throws him to a Conflict Zone! Megastar Chiru might be going through all the stress now! As war does not take place on the battle-ground, but it takes shape and strategy in the mind first.
This phenomenon of mental readiness or the psychological preparation can make an individual to face any consequences to come in his path in the later times! Chiru is now the Warrior !

Sing for Good Health
Sing for good health: scientists
Singing can cure various ailments ranging from breathing problems and depression to memory disorders , suggest several researches done across the world.
According to a study by scientists at the Western Ontario University in Canada, singing tones muscles at the back of the throat and this helps long-suffering partners of snorers get a silent night.Surgical interventions to treat snoring include removing tissue from the upper throat or toughening it by creating scar tissue. Singing offers a harmless, healthy, non-invasive, inexpensive and enjoyable way to restore the throat's tone.Humming tunes can also help lift depression while singing in a choir can provide a cure for people with asthma and other serious breathing problems.
Finding of a study by researchers at the University of Western Sydney, revealed that singing could also soothe desperately ill infants. The scientists found that songs help babies in intensive care cope with their life-saving treatment.Another study by Canadian scientists found that patients with severe Alzheimer's, a degenerative memory disorder, were able to recognise songs from their youth and join in. Researchers at Frankfurt University in Germany have found that singing lowers stress levels while American health campaigners have been using songs to help smokers stub out.

High BP ups Cognitive Decline
High blood pressure ups cognitive decline
People with high blood pressure are likely to face increasing risk of mild cognitive decline, a condition in which a person has problems with memory, language, or mental function, a new US study has found.Uncontrolled high blood pressure is already known to cause stroke, heart attack, heart failure or kidney failure.
A team led by Christiane Reitz at the Columbia University Medical Center, New York, found that high blood pressure - also known as hypertension - was associated with an increased risk of all types of mild cognitive impairment.

People Mentally Slow Down With Age
People mentally slow down with age: study
People tend to slow down mentally as they grow older, as ageing affects our brain, a new study has said. Researchers in Harvard University have found that the nerve cell packed white matter in brain that effectively serves as the brain wiring and allows different areas to communicate and share information degrades over time.
In particular, the scientists found a reduction in connections between the front and back regions of the brain. The scans conducted on the participants of the study showed the brain gradually loses the material it needs for one major region to communicate effectively with another.
However, the researchers said the pattern of disruption varied between individuals - as did their performance on individual tests.Understanding why we lose cognitive function as we age may help us to prolong our mental abilities later in life, the study published in Neuron said.
This research helps us to understand how and why our minds change as we get older, and why some individuals remain sharp even in their 90s while others' mental abilities decline as they grow older, lead researcher Jessica Andrews-Hanna said. Previous studies have focused on the effect of ageing on specific structures in the brain. The latest work, using functional magnetic resonance imaging, was different because it examined the effect on communication between different regions.
They found this affect of ageing on brain after studying the brains of 93 healthy people aged between 18 and 93.

Employees of Small Companies Enjoy Greater Recognition
Employees of small companies enjoy greater recognition
Employees of small companies feel they get more recognition for their work than their counterparts in larger firms, according to the Dresden Initiative for Health and Work (IGA) 2007 Barometer.
Thirty-five percent of responding men and 47 percent of female respondents at small companies said they had received commendation for their achievements, versus 19 percent of men and 26 percent of women in larger companies.
Workers in smaller companies are also of the opinion that their company is looking after their health and that their work is varied and non-repetitive. Workers in medium and large firms are more sceptical on both counts. Sixty-one percent of workers in small companies say they could imagine working for their firm through to retirement. Only 44 percent of respondents at medium-sized companies responded the same way. The figure was 47 percent for employees at large companies.
Across all companies, 80 percent of men and 90 percent of women said their work kept them fit. Ninety percent don't consider their work to be repetitive and say they get support from superiors and colleagues. About 70 percent said they would not change their job or industry, even if granted the opportunity.
Two thousand workers were surveyed for the barometer.

Divorces contribute Global Warming
Divorces contribute global warming: study
Increasing number of divorces are contributing to global warming, says a new study that suggests people should save their marriages to save the environment. After divorce a woman moves out and forms a new household. The study by researchers at the Michigan State University found that this leads to less efficient use of natural resources, more demand for land for housing, and higher expenditure on utilities.
They found that households where couples divorced registered a 61 percent increase in the number of rooms per person, compared with a six percent increase in households where couples remained married.Due to higher consumption per person, an individual in a divorced household might also generate more waste. These factors contribute to global environmental changes such as climate change and biodiversity loss, the study said.
Researchers surveyed 3,283 homes in the US between 2001 and 2005.

Violence on TV causes Agressive Behaviour
Violence on TV causes aggressive behaviour
Violence depicted in the media, particularly in television, films and video games, increases aggressive behaviour in both children and adults, a new US study has found. Researchers at the University of Michigan say exposure to violence via electronic media has more of an effect than other media.
The scientists reviewed more than 50 years of research on the impact of violence in the media and found that violence shown by media not only increases aggressive behaviour in both children and adults, it could have a particularly detrimental effect on the well-being of youngsters.
Many children spend an average of three hours watching television each day and more than 60 percent of TV programmes contain some violence, while 40 percent show extreme violence, the researchers said. Video game units are now present in 83 percent of homes with children. They end up spending large amounts of time playing video games, most of which contain violence.
Earlier research had found that children who watch violent television shows and who identify with the characters are more likely to be aggressive as adults and this is true for both men and women. Scientists said though not every child exposed to violence in the media will become aggressive, parents and society need to exercise greater control on what children are exposed to through films, video games and television programs.
