The Chiranjeevi-Srija case in the eyes of a Psychologist
The incident which got the attention of the common public at a higher extent in the recent times, is none other than the case of Chiranjeevi-Srija’s! Initially it started as a personal affair and took many turns in its course from ‘family trouble’ to ‘state level public issue’ to ‘national level debate’! Incidentally, in the mean time, it has been analysed from many angles so far and resulted in different interpretations in terms of political motives, social, economic and financial dimensions. But the root issue, all the pundits and observers are missing is that, it is more of a Psychological aspect than that of anything else, which is resulted in the so-called peripheral outcomes of all other dimensions! More over, it is concerned to the basic truth of ‘human factor’ but nothing else!
The other instances:
In the world of glitz and glamour, whatever the ‘persona’ they may wear from time to time to protect their image and preserve their charisma as a part of their profession, the celebrities are also embedded with all the emotions on par with a common man! It is the reality, we should admit that, they are also human beings with all the strengths and weaknesses of their own. As such, they, who ever and in whichever position they may be, will behave and respond like the other human being generally do. Of course, we cannot deny the fact that the professional life will certainly influences the personal life! So, it is necessary to recollect some of the instances that were taken place in the recent past in the celebrity world of Tollywood, to have an over-all, comprehensive and gestaltic view on the present case.
--The imbroglio took place in the family of versatile actor and ex-M.P., Mohan Babu is having the similar uproar
--The happy ending happened in the family of ‘Super Star’ Krishna which resulted in the marriage of his daughter-producer Manjula to Sanjay and his Young super star son-Mahesh Babu to former Miss India and model-turned-actor, Namrata Shirodkar!
--The dol’dramatic’ marriage of Aishwarya, short time actress and daughter of yester year’s heroin, Laxmi of ‘Julie’ fame!
The Reasons:
The reasons for the above said cases including the present case of Chiranjeevi-Srija episode can be attributed as follows:
--Attention Deficit Disorder, that is usually faced by the children and siblings of the celebrities
--Communication gap due to the generation gap
--Unconscious intrinsic motivation of the children to express their ‘contempt’ against their parent’s image and charisma
--High level of ‘Self Concept’ among the children of celebrities
--Unconscious struggle for ‘self identity’ from the shadows of their parents
--The clash between ‘Middle Class Values’ from where these present celebrities have been hailed and ‘High Class Freedom’ in which their children are being brought up and enjoyed!
--The adventurous and ‘break the rules’ attitude of the new generation due to their exposure to the urban lifestyle
--the sub-conscious influence of the cinematic themes and roles played by their parents!
Is it the failure of Chiranjeevi as a Parent?
In psychological interpretations, every one is human, irrespective of their status, stature and stamina they possess or they acquire in the social milieu! Chiranjeevi is also no exception in this case! And Chiranjeevi represents the epitome of “New Generation Parent” while Srija represents the culminated symbol of “New Generation Children”! It is an outcome of the conflict and imbalance between the two ends of “Careerism” and of the lack of “Contact Comfort” with the family. The crisis arisen due to the “Achievement Motivation” and the “Attachment satisfaction”! This can be better explained with the Theory of F-P-F!
The Theory reveals the fact that, broadly, the human life can be classified into three dimensions known as,
-The Family Life
-The Professional Life
-The Financial Life
It is not possible for a human being to get a balance, perfect coordination and cohesion among these three aspects! If anybody concentrates himself on family life, naturally he will not justify at full length to his professional life which leads to unsatisfied financial life and so on! This is just like the phenomenon of the ‘hands of seconds, minutes and hours’ in a wall clock. All the time, all these three hands try hard to meet with each other and stay! But their strenuous efforts will last upto “One Second” only! This happens in the life of a celebrity parent in a normal course.
The Lesson:
The case of Chiranjeevi-Srija is re-emphasizing the importance and impact of psychological deficiencies in determining the different behavioral patterns of human beings, over the much-touted social, political, economic, financial angles, etc.
